I am not an entomologist. My principal interest in moths is artistic. Nevertheless my background, in what I refer to now as a former life, is in engineering science. Indeed one of my enduring interests is science. And one of my enduring annoyances is how popular science mangles what it is trying to explain, particularly when it comes to the anthropomorphism of creatures, and sometimes even inorganic matter, that are clearly not human and don’t have anything like human motivations or characteristics. But that is another story.
However, there will be many amateur and professional moth enthusiasts who will find this site. I have managed to identify the species of many of the moths participating in my creations. I may have made errors in so doing. There are many species which I have not been able to identify. What follows is where this aspect of mothology has reached. Clearly it will be an ongoing process and one in which I invite enthusiasts to participate. If you think I have made a mistake or if you think you can identify any of the following moths please feel free to email me at: info@leapfrogoz.com.au
Note too that the moths with names in orange and underlined are linked to sites that offer more information on that particular moth.
